Ep 018: Talking to Children About Race and Discrimination with Rania Robinson

I am delighted to be joined by the incredible Rania Robinson, MD of Quiet Storm the ad agency responsible for the Haribo ads we all love where the adults talk with children’s voices.

As a woman of colour raising two mixed race children she shares her personal insights on how she has navigated discussions around race and discrimination.

I believe we all have a responsibility to educate ourselves and our children so we can eradicate discrimination. So many parents have not known how to start discussions around Black Lives Matters and Rania shares the most incredible insights from her own family. This is a must listen for every parent – regardless of race or ethnicity.

She also just happens to be my sister.

Here are the highlights:

{1:58} Starting school for the first time

{5:06} A strong sense of being different

{11:40} The ‘Angry Black Man’

{16:07} Black Lives Matter vs All Lives Matter

{19:03} Black communities are disproportionately affected

{28:00} Changing perceptions one ad at a time
