Small Group Coaching Programme: 5-11 years

Resilience and Confidence are the greatest skills we can teach our children. They are better predictors of success in adult life than academic ability, and yet appear so difficult to promote and encourage day to day. Some children seem to have confidence in abundance; they are able to pick themselves up when things go wrong and try again. Whilst others seem to struggle with even the basics of looking people in eye, putting their hand up in class, persevering when things go wrong, standing up for themselves with friends, doing things independently, or pushing themselves out of their comfort zone, rather than simply saying ‘no’ for fear they’ll fail.

This is a week long small group coaching programme where I will work with just 12 children helping with work through something specific to them – maybe it’s around confidence, anxiety, resilience, managing emotions or a combination. They will have a session with me each day Monday to Friday and then Friday I will also do a separate session with all of you as parents to feedback and give tools to help. The whole week will be recorded and you’ll be sent the recordings to keep and use.

********** Emotional Meltdowns **********
We’ve all experienced it in one shape or another; whether it’s because we’ve said ‘no’ to something, asked them to do something they don’t want to do, or called ‘time for dinner, bed, bath, school, homework etc ……. and they’ve totally lost the plot.

Their reaction seems so disproportionate, you’d think we’d cut off a limb, and yet to them it’s the end of their world and to us we’re struggling to know what to say and how to keep our own emotions in check.

We feel as though we’ve somehow failed as a parent and get caught in those unhelpful comparisons, assuming other parents have this totally sorted. Yet this is such a common problem and happens in every family – we just don’t always bear witness to it.

If you’d like to call time on your own child’s meltdowns and really get to the heart of the issue then my Helping Children Manage Their Emotions online workshop on Saturday 30th November is for you. At the end of this 2.5 hour workshop you’ll come away understanding and being able to put into practice:

• The 3 main reasons why children have emotional meltdowns
• How to react in the moment to minimise the outburst
• Strategies which help your children manage their emotions so you get less meltdowns
• Activities to develop your child’s emotional literacy
