We’ve all experienced it in one shape or another; whether it’s because we’ve said ‘no’ to something, asked them to do something they don’t want to do, or called ‘time for dinner, bed, bath, school, homework etc ……. and they’ve totally lost the plot.
Their reaction seems so disproportionate, you’d think we’d cut off a limb, and yet to them it’s the end of their world and to us we’re struggling to know what to say and how to keep our own emotions in check.
We feel as though we’ve somehow failed as a parent and get caught in those unhelpful comparisons, assuming other parents have this totally sorted. Yet this is such a common problem and happens in every family – we just don’t always bear witness to it.
If you’d like to call time on your own child’s meltdowns and really get to the heart of the issue then my Helping Children Manage Their Emotions online workshop on Saturday 30th November is for you. At the end of this 2.5 hour workshop you’ll come away understanding and being able to put into practice:
• The 3 main reasons why children have emotional meltdowns
• How to react in the moment to minimise the outburst
• Strategies which help your children manage their emotions so you get less meltdowns
• Activities to develop your child’s emotional literacy
